Placement Preparation Courses

Duration: 80 Hours, Conducted at Colleges, and Online.

The Aptitude Tests are an important component in the placement process. Aptitude tests are conducted for campus placements and most freshers job recruitment drives. The cut-off marks in Aptitude tests can be as high as 80 percent and students need to be very thorough with the topics and work fast in solving the problems.

Other than placement preparation, Aptitude Tests are standard tests conducted by many Government organisations and departments as well as Banks as part of their recruitment procedure.

At Constellation we have been taking classes on Aptitude Tests for the last 9 years at various campuses. We are also conducting them online. The teaching consists of instructions from our tutors on each chapter, introducing the tricks to quick problem solving and practice on our test portals. We clear your doubts in the class.

There are 5 broad topics of the course.

  • Quantitative Skills
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Data Interpretation
  • Data Sufficiency
  • Verbal Aptitude

Group Discussion and Personal Interview are two key components of a recruitment process. We have been conducting training sessions on these two topics for many years and in many colleges including the IITs.

We usually cover the training session on these two topics in the following manner.

  1. Group Discussions (GD) Orientation
  2. Personal Interview (PI) Orientation
  3. Group Discussions practice
  4. Personal Interview Practice

Group Discussions (GD) Orientation

We take the students through an awareness session on what a GD is, how to conduct oneself in a GD and how to work out a strategy for success. The areas we cover are

  • What is Group Discussions and why do companies conduct GDs
  • Rules of a GD
  • Types of Topics – General Awareness, Abstract and Case Studies
  • The Dos and Don’ts of GDs
  • Factors essential for success in a GD
  • Group Enterprise Roles in a GD
  • Dysfunctional Roles
  • Demonstration Practice

Personal Interview (PI) Orientation

Similarly, we conduct a orientation class for the students on how to face an interview. The areas that we address are:

  • Appearing for an interview
  • The Dos and Don’ts of an interview
  • Sense of Time
  • Appearance
  • Walking in
  • Greetings
  • Body language
  • Communication
  • Self-Introduction
  • Listening
  • Etiquette and Manners
  • Asking a question

After the two sessions on GDs and Interviews, we conduct practice sessions for the students.

Group Discussions Practice

Students find it difficult in performing well in Group Discussions (GD). The best way to be successful is to practice with a coach. Our trainers are experts in conducting GDs and assessing students on their performance. Feedback is given to each student after every round. The consolidated results are made available to the institute.

We practice three types of GDs with the students. They are:

  • Generic topics
  • Abstract topics
  • Case studies

A rigorous practice with multiple rounds helps the students to do well in any kind of GDs with any company.

Personal Interview Practice

During this round, each student gets a chance to go through 15 minutes of interview and feedback session with an interviewer. He/she is judged on a number of parameters prevalent in the industry like dressing & grooming, etiquette & manners, self-introduction, communication skills, confidence, how well did the person answer technical questions and how well did he/she answer HR questions. An assessment is provided, and the student is given a detailed feedback on areas of improvement.

The results are also shared with the institute. Currently we conduct interview rounds with only HR questions or with IT and HR questions. In case an institute would like us to interview on other domains, they should let us know so that we are able to involve experts from that domain.

Courses for Business Management Students

The Online Business Quiz is an offering created by Professor G Mohan.

Prof. G. Mohan is a Quiz Master who has conducted numerous quizzes in companies, colleges and clubs. He has begun conducting online business quizzes since 2018 and the offering has gained popularity among students of MBA and PGDM.

G. Mohan has been maintaining a Quiz Blog, http://indiabusinessquiz.com for the last 10 years. It has crossed 2.7 million hits. The site gets over 500 visitors everyday mainly college students, Business school students and quizzers. A number of working executives also use it to update themselves. Besides the blog, Prof G. Mohan posts daily quiz questions on Twitter and has over 3500 followers. He also shares his Weekly Business Quiz through broadcast channels on Whatsapp which is subscribed by over 1500 students.

Prof. G. Mohan has an Engineering degree from IT-BHU Varanasi (now IIT-BHU) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. He has 20 years of industry experience in MECON and Tata Consultancy Services. He has been part of the Interview panel for campus interviews on behalf of TCS and also as a panel member for admissions to MBA programmes at IIMs and other Business Schools. Since 2006, he has been a Professor of Information Technology at Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad. He has moved out of ASCI from April 2019 to pursue his interests in training and consultancy as an independent professional.

Background and Need

Based on interactions with recruiters from Business School campuses as well as the senior faculty at select top business schools, it is felt that there is a need to make the students of the business schools ready for placement. There exists a gap between what the industry wants and what the business schools teach. One area of gap is poor business awareness among students. The current batches of students do not like to read long articles and books but prefer short nuggets of information presented to them in a digital form.

Prof. G. Mohan has conceptualised two offerings, Business Sector Analysis and Online Quiz on Business Awareness. Here we shall talk about Online Quiz on Business Awareness. You may look up the course on Business Sector Analysis under the trainings for MBA students. Both the courses are jointly offered by Prof. G Mohan and Constellation.

Objective

  1. To create interest among students to follow news and events in business and management beyond the textbooks
  2. To make acquisition of such knowledge interesting and entertaining through innovation in pedagogy
  3. To prepare students to interact with people from industry during internships and placements

Offering

We have designed an online course for building business awareness for MBA students. This has been piloted successfully in two business schools since 2018-19. The core of this course is a series of business quizzes administered through Internet based on a mix of questions.

Based on news and current events, as well as some other concepts and trivia, we will create a question bank of 80-100 new questions every month. Besides these we have a question bank of over 3000 questions, collected over the years. We also have a network of quiz masters who would be contributing questions. These questions will include questions from various areas of management and business:

  • Business News and events – Indian
  • Business news and events – Global
  • Marketing and Advertising
  • Financial Awareness
  • Management terms and jargon including HR and IT
  • Start-ups/Entrepreneurship
  • Current affairs beyond business

These questions will be created in multiple formats like Multiple Choice Questions, True/False, Match the following, Fill in the Blanks etc. These questions will be loaded on to an online testing platform www.classmarker.com .

The course content can be customised based on the institute’s focus and standards. The online course should be ideally included as a part of the curriculum to bring about seriousness and bring about a meaningful improvement. The course would require a laptop with an internet connection.

Existing Clients

The Online Business Quiz in the current format was launched at BIMTECH, NOIDA for their PGDM students of the First Year in August 2018. From December 2018, this was included for the PG Diploma in Retail Management at BIMTECH, NOIDA. In the academic session 2019-20, the online business quiz has been included for both First Year and Second Year PGDM as well as Retail Management students.

A pilot of the Online Business Quiz was conducted in 2018-19 academic session at Praxis Business School, Kolkata. After receiving a positive feedback, the same was included as a regular course in the academic session 2019-20 for the PGDM students of both First year and Second Year.
